2010 Application Process
for New Applicants Invited to Apply

In order to submit a full proposal, new applicants MUST have been invited to apply.  If you have not yet been invited, click here to submit a Letter of Inquiry.

In an effort to make the submission process efficient and straightforward for all of our applicants, the Dodge Foundation is moving to an online application system. We intend to go live with the system on February 22nd, in time for any organization wishing to submit a proposal for the March 1st deadline, our next round of grantmaking.

If you are a new applicant invited to apply, please read over the following information for guidance about what you will be asked to submit by March 1. We provide this information to you now so that you can begin working on your proposals, but we ask that you wait until after February 22nd, when our new system goes live, to submit your final proposal.

The Dodge Foundation online application will ask the following questions:

1. Please supply a brief organizational history that includes the mission of the organization and information on key personnel (1-2 paragraphs and not to exceed 250 words).

2. Write a narrative of approximately 1,500 words (about 2 to 3 pages) that describes the main purpose of the proposed grant and incorporates:

  • The primary focus of the work for the upcoming year, including communities served or engaged in your activities.
  • Plans for evaluating your work going forward, including your vision of success and any assessment tools that will be used in the process.
  • Organizational challenges and opportunities, including strategies for addressing them.
  • Whether the work includes any new or existing collaborations or partnerships.

3. In a few bullets, as specifically as possible, please describe the anticipated outcomes of the proposed activities.

4. Briefly tell us what tools and strategies you are using to communicate about your work to existing and potentially new audiences/constituents.

5. Please provide one or two illustrative stories that further help us understand how your work is helping to foster creative lives and/or sustainable communities in New Jersey.

We will also ask you to provide:

  • A list containing Trustee names and affiliations.
  • Detailed organizational budgets (expenses and income) for the current and proposed fiscal years and, if applying for a specific project, a budget for that project.
  • The most recent Audited Financial Statement or 990.
  • Photos (optional): up to five images (preferably in jpg or png formats) that are representative of your work and for which Dodge has permission to publish on our website or in any Dodge publications. Please be sure to include any applicable photo credits.
