To support land preservation and stewardship, and promote natural resource conservation practices on south Jersey farms.
Natural Lands Trust is a non-profit land conservation organization dedicated to protecting the forests, fields and streams that are essential to the sustainability of life in eastern Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey. Founded in 1953, we target the region's most significant remaining natural areas in places like the Schuylkill River watershed, the Pennsylvania Highlands, the Pocono Mountains, and the Delaware Bayshore. At the same time, we are committed to saving the locally important places that give our communities character, remind us of our heritage, and connect us to the natural world.
Natural Lands Trust owns and manages 43 nature preserves, totaling nearly 22,000 acres, and holds conservation easements and other restrictions exceeding 23,000 acres. We also have helped countless landowners, municipalities, and non-profits achieve their own conservation goals. Our record of success--particularly with large, complex preservation projects--has earned us a reputation as a leader in regional-scale conservation (not just in the Philadelphia market, but throughout the United States, as well). Our comprehensive and practical approach to conservation includes:
Saving Land - Permanently protecting natural areas using acquisition and conservation easements and helping growing communities preserve more of their land
Stewarding Natural Resources - Providing leadership in managing natural resources on our own preserves and sharing what we've learned with other landowners
Connecting People to Nature - Creating opportunities for people to connect with and learn from nature on our preserves
