As the major cultural resource for New Jersey's Skylands Region, the Centenary Stage Company adheres to the mission of making the performing arts a vital, accessible, and affordable part of our community by presenting varied, dynamic, and professional programs and artists that entertain, inspire and educate. The central mission of CSC, for over 30 years, has been the Equity Theatre Series, with a dedication to pushing artistic boundaries through the presentation and production of important theatrical work, both past and present. This includes the dedication to providing a developmental platform for new work, which we have done for over 24 years in our Women Playwrights Series, and do now also through our new Fringe Fest Series. We are committed to developing young talents through our Young Performers Workshop series, which has introduced over 2700 young thespians to the performance arts over its 23 years, with hands-on production experience and training, and over 50 performances a year. Our vibrant Young Audience Series now tours to schools statewide with curriculum inspired performances and workshops. Our Great Authors Out Loud and Shakesperience programs develop appreciation for classical texts and ideas, for both young participants and old. Our concert and event series provide a diversity of cultural experiences for our region, while also helping to financially sustain and strengthen the core organization. Our annual Dance Festival seeks to develop audiences for contemporary dance by featuring the work of 3 NJ Dance Companies each year, enhanced by free "day of dance" events and seminars and talkbacks. In 2010 CSC moved into the new Lackland Center, with its 500-seat Sitnik Theater, Kutz BlackBox Theatre and the largest dance studio in the region. Through ambitious planning and creative marketing and community support, we continue to enjoy robust attendance in our over 200 performance-per-year season of programming.
