The mission of the Camden City Garden Club, Inc. (CCGC) is to inspire and educate people of all ages by providing opportunities to improve their quality of life, health and community through horticulture. It is the vision of the Camden City Garden Club to be a valuable center to foster learning and community while being a leading resource enabling access to healthy, high quality, safe and affordable food. For 28 years the Garden Club has been providing community gardening and education in Camden schools. For 13 years the Camden Children's Garden has been providing educational experiences for schools and families. CCGC is a non-profit (501) (c) (3), membership-based, educational and environmental organization established to assist Camden residents with community gardening. Over the years, the Club has evolved to include many additional programs such as: Community Gardening and Greening, Grow Lab, Youth Employment and Training Program, the Camden sponsor of AmeriCorps NCCC, a majorexhibitor for 16 years in the Philadelphia Flower Show and the Camden Children's Garden. Established in 1985, our Community Gardening Program helps residents of the City of Camden and members of the Garden Club maintain community gardens and greening sites throughout the City of Camden. CCGC assists members with cleaning vacant, city-owned lots and helps members transform them into beautiful and productive community gardens, growing fresh and nutritious fruits and vegetables. CCGC provides tools, plants and seeds, while members contribute the sweat equity. Members receive planting, gardening and nutritional information and can participate in demonstrations and workshops.
