To support the production of five world-class mainstage plays or musicals, traditionally including original works and world premieres; to maintain and grow our groundbreaking Arts in Education Department.
For four decades George Street Playhouse's mission has been to 'enrich people's lives through world-class theater.' As we celebrate our 40th season, we continue to focus our artistry and resources on our commitment to that mission. Through commitment and dedication to our mission, we've become a cornerstone of the New Brunswick cultural district, helping to revitalize the city's economy. Tens of thousands of adults, youth, and children throughout New Jersey see our work each year, both through our mainstage plays and our groundbreaking Arts-in-Education program.
Each season, Artistic Director David Saint searches for artist-driven plays that appeal to the heart and to the mind. This anniversary season includes two world-premieres and the inaugural production of a special collaboration between GSP and Rutgers University Mason Gross School of the Arts Theater Department. Past world-premiere plays that have gone on to Broadway or toured throughout the United States have included 'The Spitfire Grill,' 'The Toxic Avenger,' and 'Proof.' David Saint is supported in fulfilling our mission by Managing Director Kelly Ryman; Daniel Bauer, Director of Marketing and Public Relations; Lisa Giannascoli, Director of Development; Christopher J. Bailey, Production Manager; and Jim Jack, Director of Education.
