For general operating support of urban farming, gardening and environmental education programs
City Green works to facilitate the creation and expansion of urban farms, gardens and green spaces in Northern New Jersey's cities to enrich the lives of inner city residents while cultivating education in public health, nutrition and the environment. Through a variety of programs and projects offered to children and adults of all ages through schools, community based organizations and the City Green Learning Garden and Farms, City Green provides access to fresh organically grown produce; education on gardening, nutrition and the environment; and avenues to revitalize and rejuvenate the urban environment.
Towards this mission, City Green currently offers five programs: New Ground is our community garden and urban greening program. City Sprouts is our youth gardening program, taking place after school and summertime at community gardens, partner organizations and the City Green Learning Garden and Farms. School Grounds includes School Gardens, Environmental Clubs and Professional Development Training. City Green Farms encompasses two farm locations of organic vegetable production and four markets serving food desert neighborhoods and federal food assistant beneficiaries in Paterson, Passaic and Clifton. Growing Strong is our high school intern program, offering paid employment and youth development programming to local teenagers. Key Staff include Executive Director Jennifer Papa, Director of Community Engagement Jasmine Moreano, Director of Youth Programming Josh Kane, Program Operations Manager Claudia Urdanivia, Production Coordinator Tom Fox, Urban Farmer Todd Gustafson and Development Assistant Christine VanDyk.
