Organization Background

GFS' mission is to promote an appreciation and understanding of contemporary sculpture for all people. Its founder's vision is realized in the creation of a 42-acre sculpture garden with major exhibition, education, performance, and visitor facilities that make contemporary art accessible by showcasing it in beautiful settings that encourage discovery and learning. Built on the former NJ State Fairgrounds, GFS features an evolving collection of over 270 sculptures by both internationally renowned and emerging artists. Its arboretum has more than 200 cultivars of trees, 1,000's of flowering shrubs, and settings grand and intimate, all to spotlight art and engage the visitor. Its rotating gallery exhibitions, performing arts events, educational programs, and family activities invite people to approach and interact with art on their terms, growing in knowledge, understanding, and joy.

GFS is managed by a team of experienced professionals that include Rob Gross, Chief Financial Officer; Bonnie Brown, Director of Operations; Coby Green-Rifkin, Director of Marketing; Rhonda DiMascio, Director of Development; Aylin Green, Director of Member, and Janis Martin-Hughes, Manager of Corporate Engagement, who together have extensive experience in nonprofit arts management. At its programmatic core are Tom Moran, Chief Curator, who oversees sculpture-related programming and exhibitions; Faith McClellan, Director, Collections and Exhibitions Management who oversees the installation and care of works on the grounds and in galleries; Cassandra Demski, Curator of Education, who oversees educational, volunteer and artist related activities; Rena Perrone, Curator of Performing Arts, who organizes performances and community events; and Nancy Schomburg, Manager, Volunteer Services, who manages GFS' volunteer program.
