For general operating support of land preservation, stewardship, and municipal services programs.
The Land Conservancy of New Jersey works with our community partners to preserve land to ensure plentiful and sustainable supplies of clean drinking water, farmland to provide food sources for local markets, and recreation lands to ensure healthy lifestyles for families and children. Our Partners for Greener Communities (PGC) program is the embodiment of our mission to 'preserve land and water resources, conserve open space, and inspire and empower individuals and communities to protect land and the environment.' With the support of the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation, through our PGC program we have helped 71 government and private organizations preserve open space; completed 107 Open Space, Farmland, and Trail Plans; preserved 14,883 acres in 295 projects, 38 towns; and helped our partners receive $229,396,625 in grants for land preservation. In total, The Land Conservancy has preserved a total of 20,000 acres of land throughout northern New Jersey for watershed protection, natural resource conservation, agricultural retention, and recreation.
The Land Conservancy owns and manages 1,082 acres of land. The centerpiece of our restoration efforts and land management program is the 405 acre South Branch Preserve in Mt. Olive Township. Located at the headwaters of the South Branch of the Raritan River, this property protects watershed land which services over 1
