For general operating support of Morris Arts' initiatives to engage and build community through the arts.
Founded in 1973 as the Arts Council of the Morris Area to enrich and transform lives through the arts, Morris Arts has delivered programs and services designed to build vibrant communities through arts programming and support of locally-based arts, to celebrate the creativity of artists in our midst, to serve as a central arts resource, to enrich the learning experiences of school children and to provide information about the arts to the general public. Morris Arts has consistently been honored by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, receiving the State's prestigious Citation of Excellence and designation as a Major Service Organization in recognition of its solid history of artistic excellence, substantial programming and broad public service.
Morris Arts' renewed mission (adopted as a result of our Strategic Planning process completed in 2012) is 'to engage and build community through the arts', a mission that underscores our focus on imagining a better, more sustainable New Jersey. Our seven full-time staff members are respected, experienced and passionate about their work and serving the residents of Morris County. Executive Director Tom Werder has a wealth of experience leading performing arts organizations throughout New Jersey and elsewhere and is the 5th Executive Director in Morris Arts' 40 year history. Our Program Directors lead the heart of our work with Kadie Dempsey as our resident outreach and Creative Placemaking expert, Barbara Reuther fostering our far-reaching Arts in Education programs and Lynn Siebert running our numerous engaging Arts Participation programs. Our work is supported by our Finance Director, Anne Dodd; our Development Director, Gina Moran; and our Program Administrative Assistant, Kaity De Laura.
