Our Mission | The Newark Trust for Education (the Trust) is an independent organization dedicated to developing, coordinating and focusing ideas, resources and expertise and holding all of us responsible for quality public education.
As a trusted source of information; a facilitator of high impact collaboration; and by increasing the level and the scope of civic engagement around substantive education issues, the Trust removes obstacles to reform while driving a bold agenda designed to ensure that all of Newark's children are prepared for collage and a career.
Our Story | The Trust was launched in January 2011 after an 18-month process that involved over 100 community stakeholders. The Trust is part of a network of Local Education Funds that most notably include the Boston Plan for Excellence and New Visions for New Schools in New York. Simultaneously building a strong organization and pursuing a bold mission, the Trust is bringing people, ideas, and resources together-for a change. The Trust is governed by a distinguished and diverse Board of Directors representing over 250 years of combined service working on behalf of Newark and Newark children, and led by inaugural president and CEO, Ross Danis.
