For general operating support to provide free legal assistance to New Jersey nonprofit organizations including arts, civic, environmental and conservation organizations.
The Partnership was founded in 1997 by members of the Westchester County, NY and Fairfield County, CT, corporate bar to provide legal assistance to nonprofits that could not afford to divert resources from programs to hire attorneys and to encourage pro bono service by attorneys at corporations. We serve NJ, CT and lower NY, north of New York City. We expanded to NJ in 2000, and merged with a similar Hartford organization in 2008. We assist agencies serving the disadvantaged, and environmental, conservation, arts and civic organizations, in part by recruiting and supervising corporate and law firm attorneys who help us advise more than 550 nonprofits annually without charge on compliance, contracts, governance, employment, environmental, fundraising, intellectual property, lobbying, mergers and real estate matters, among others.
