For general operating support to bring musical theatre productions and experiential arts education programming to schools and theatres throughout NJ.

Organization Background

Rooted in the belief that the arts are an inseparable part of the human journey and an essential component of the educational process, Pushcart Players was founded in 1974 with the primary goal of inspiring children with high quality theatre performances and arts education classes. Traveling to schools throughout NJ was a high priority so that all children of diverse backgrounds could benefit from experiencing live theatre and arts education.

Pushcart has pioneered a movement to make the arts a central part of the curriculum -- and has been in the vanguard of this commitment since 1974. Pushcart continues to provide opportunities for meaningful arts learning in its 29 wildly wonderful, original musical plays and myriad classes for kids. Both the plays and classes introduce the joy and magic of the live theatre experience while amplifying many rich curriculum and value clarification connections.

The mission of Pushcart Players is to provide an introduction to the arts through professional (Actors' Equity Association) theatre, workshops and residencies for K - 12 students that foster in-depth understanding, life long love, learning and participation in the arts.

Key personnel includes: Executive/Artistic Director - Oversees all operations, sets artistic standards, best practices and strategies for sustainability; Managing Director - Implements all programming, scheduling, Equity paperwork, Payroll and myriad other functioning details; Part Time Marketing and PR Manager: Oversees and implements marketing, communications and media sites; Part Time Office Assistant; Part Time Technical Manager - Oversees technical aspects of all productions; Part Time Education Director -- Oversees and implements arts education workshops, residencies, student productions; Core company of 25 Actors' Equity Association actors and teaching artists.
