Peters Valley School of Craft continues to enrich lives through the learning, appreciation and practice of the art of fine craft as it has since 1970. Nationally known as a premier institution of its kind, Peters Valley fulfills its mission through 2 to 8 day immersive workshops for adults held from May through September, a summer youth art program, an exhibition/retail Gallery (featuring work from over 200 fine craft artists), an Annual Fine Craft Fair (that draws over 6,500 visitors to Sussex County), an artist residency program, internships, fellowships, residencies and public outreach programs including an Open House, Craftsmen At Work Program, Accessible Art Program and participation in affiliate programs with regional schools and arts organizations including partnerships with: the National Park Service (DEWA), the Pocono Environmental Education Center, Marywood & Hood Universities, Sussex County Community College, Water Gap Wood Turners, NJ Potters Guild, NJ Blacksmiths Association, & NJ State Fair. Peters Valley also partners with National organizations including the American Craft Council, Craft Emergency Relief Fund and helped develop The Craft School Initiative with Social Impact Studios to bring awareness of our missions and to contribute to the field of American Craft. Peters Valley brings the power and beauty of making fine crafts by hand to an ever widening audience via its programs, partnerships and collaborations. Peters Valley is committed to developing excellence in craft through the skills and core values of traditional craftsmanship while nurturing creativity and innovation in a diverse constituency including professional artists, enthusiasts and general public. We believe that creative practice has many overarching benefits to our humanity such as: developing imagination, innovation and creative solutions.
The staff is comprised of Kristin Muller-Executive Director, Jennifer Apgar-Education Director, Jackie Santonastaso-Administrative Assistant, Lindsay Gates-Development Director, Brienne Rosner-Gallery Manager, Campbell Albritton-Facilities Manager, seasonal staff and ten devoted Board of Directors. Peters Valley operates 8 fine craft studios, managed by a combination of permanent staff and artist fellows, who are afforded a stipend, housing, meals and opportunities to work with renowned artist/instructors in exchange for managing the studios during the workshop season.
