Under the leadership of Artistic Director John Dias and Managing Director Michael Hurst, now in their fourth full season together, Two River is receiving recognition as a home for adventurous theater artists and their new work. Dias joined Two River in August 2012 bringing 20 years of experience working as a producer and dramaturg in New York and as a leading advocate for bold new American plays. Prior to coming to Two River, Dias worked in a variety of capacities at The Public Theater/New York Shakespeare Festival, including Associate Producer and Associate Artistic Director. Hurst was appointed in May 2011 bringing 20 years of experience overseeing budgets ranging from $16 to $40 million at The Public Theater, Central Park's Delacorte Theater, and the Film Society of Lincoln Center.
Two River Theater has received numerous accolades throughout its history, including its designation as a Major Arts Institution by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts. Recent world premiere productions include: Madeleine George's "Seven Homeless Mammoths Wander New England"; a new family musical, "A Wind in the Windows Christmas", written by Mike Reid, Sarah Schlesinger and Mindi Dickstein; and Andrea Thome's "Pinkolandia", produced in partnership with the Lark Play Development Center and supported by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
