For continued support of Local Recovery Planning Managers in municipalities heavily impacted by Hurricane Sandy, providing direct assistance and capacity to plan, manage and implement recovery and long term resiliency initiatives.
New Jersey Future is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that brings together concerned citizens and leaders to promote responsible land-use policies at both the state and local levels. The organization employs original research, analysis and outreach efforts to build coalitions and drive change to revitalize cities and towns, protect natural lands and waterways, provide more transportation choices beyond cars, expand access to safe and affordable neighborhoods and fuel a prosperous economy.
New Jersey Future brings nearly 30 years of experience with local laws, regulations, and community engagement across the state. Through its work facilitating the Urban Water Solutions Initiative, New Jersey Future has built relationships with elected officials, staff and consultants working in many of the target communities. In addition, its convening power and track record of success affords a level of trustworthiness and safety to local leadership trying to pursue innovative solutions. This project will be managed by Senior Director of State Policy Chris Sturm, who has significant experience leading advocacy campaigns and coalition-based efforts and currently leads the Urban Water Solutions Initiative. Key support will be provided by Jane Rosenblatt, planning and policy associate, and Elaine Clisham, director of communications.
This effort will be a collaboration re:focus partners and other experts where needed. Building on lessons learned from designing, leading, and managing the national RE.invest Initiative, re:focus partners has extensive experience developing competitions working with leading private-sector companies and federal, state and local policymakers to create technically sound design and finance strategies. The re:focus team has worked with cities and states across the world to apply their robust project predevelopment process to help move cities from ideation and project implementation. One of these cities was Hoboken, which allowed re:focus partners to become familiar with green infrastructure issues in New Jersey. Shalini Vajjhala, chief executive officer and founder of re:focus partners, will play a hands-on role in this effort -- providing one-on-one counsel to selected CSO communities as well as advising the team throughout the process.
