For general operating support of the Community Foundation's efforts to increase the level and effectiveness of South Jersey philanthropy and for support of a board training series for regional nonprofits.
CFSJ began operations in November 2009 to increase the level of philanthropy and help local givers achieve meaningful results with their generosity. CFSJ has offered a broad range of flexible funds and services to support local givers in every phase of their philanthropy. We believe that informed, engaged donors in partnership with others can create thriving, equitable, and livable communities in South Jersey.
The foundation's notable accomplishments include:
Increasing CFSJ assets from two donor funds and over $500,000 to 39 funds and over $17.6 million today (an increase of over $2 million from last year).
Allocating almost $7 million in grants and scholarships for the region.
Hosting the first ever Social Enterprise Summit in South Jersey.
Sponsoring the Nonprofit Resilience Institute to improve the sustainability regional nonprofits.
Establishing the Camden Food Innovation Fund to support emerging projects that improve food access and create jobs in Camden City.
Cultivating over almost $300,000 for Superstorm Sandy recovery.
Establishing Proven & Promising, a giver and foundation "sandbox", where support of regional causes highlights great work in the area.
CFSJ is lead by three staff in Haddonfield, NJ and an additional three staff contracted through our partnership with CFNJ in Morristown, NJ.
