Founded in 1985, the mission of the Camden City Garden Club (CCGC) is to inspire and educate people of all ages by providing opportunities to improve their quality of life, health and community through horticulture.
For nearly 3 decades, CCGC has been an integral part of the well-being of Camden, New Jersey, bringing access, education and skills related to healthy food/eating; proving food security; preK-8 science education, and job training/employment to its residents -- one of the poorest in the Nation -- through the utilization of 135 community and 95 backyard gardens enabling residents to grow fruits and vegetables for themselves, their families and neighbors; maintains 2 one acre and 1 half acre urban farms that produce food which then is distributed to the neighborhood and sold at the Camden Children's Garden Market to provide a supply of fresh food for Camden residents.
