The Rutgers University Foundation was incorporated in 1973 and is chartered under the laws of the State of New Jersey. The Rutgers University Foundation has been granted 501(c)(3) tax status by the Internal Revenue Service for the sole purpose of securing and administering private gifts for the benefit of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, with the approval of the University's Board of Governors and Board of Trustees. Governed by a Board of Overseers, which has the power, authority, and obligation to set fund-raising policies and oversee its operation, the Rutgers University Foundation is the exclusive channel for all gifts to the University from all private sources including individuals, trusts, estates, corporations, foundations, and organizations. The Rutgers University Foundation is the fund-raising arm of the university. We build relationships with alumni and friends, corporations, and foundations and seek their support of Rutgers programs throughout New Jersey and the world. Our sole mission is to support Rutgers.
This project will be led by Todd Wolfson a professor of Journalism and Media Studies in the School of Communication and Information at Rutgers University:
Todd has experience in this area of work as a founder and director of the Media Mobilizing Project of Philadelphia, which is recognized as a pioneer in the use of new media education in low-income communities. MMP has received local and national press attention for this work, while receiving grants from the Knight Foundation, Funding Exchange, Media and Democracy Fund, Ben and Jerry's Foundation, Instructional Telecommunications Foundation, Social Science Research Council, Media and Democracy Coalition, Samuel S. Fels Foundation, Bread and Roses Community Fund and the National Telecommunications and Information Administration
