Organization Background

New Jersey Ballet Company is a uniquely New Jersey organization whose purpose is to serve the people of New Jersey. Founded in 1958, New Jersey Ballet was created to help fill the cultural void in a state which had no full-time professional ballet of its own.

From the beginning, New Jersey Ballet has been guided by a unique, three-part mission, which continues to define the purpose of the organization and determine the Company's priorities.

? To provide a first-class professional dance company for New Jersey built solidly on a foundation of highly talented artists and administrators that will perform throughout the state, as well as in other states.

? To maintain the highest standards of quality in artistry as well as repertory and a competitive salary range that will attract the finest dancers and choreographers.

? To enrich the cultural education of public school children of all ages throughout New Jersey.

This mission has been achieved many times over. The company continues to be a first-class professional dance company that performs for audiences in nine venues from Bergen to Cape May. It has toured to other parts of the country and also to Bermuda, Russia, Taiwan, and more.
