For continued support of New Jersey choreographers and dance companies.
New Music USA (newmusicusa.org) fosters the creation, dissemination, and enjoyment of new American music. As the organization created by the 2011 merger between the American Music Center, founded in 1939, and Meet The Composer, founded in 1974, we are forceful advocates of new music in the United States. Our programs impact millions of people in the tri-state area and across the country.
New Music USA supports and engages a broad and diverse constituency of artists, projects, and audiences. We fund artists and composers through three grant-making programs that distribute approximately $1 million in grants each year. New Music USA project grants, a reinvention and consolidation of five former grant-making programs (including Live Music for Dance, the grant program historically supported by the Dodge Foundation) support a wide range of projects involving new music and focus on funding new work. The New Music Impact Fund provides essential general operating support, residency pairings, and a sector-wide marketing initiative to a dynamic cohort of grassroots new music ensembles and venues in New York City. Music Alive, our national orchestral residency program, gives major grants and provides technical assistance for composer orchestra residencies across the country. Our editorial work provides in-depth coverage of the field on our web publication NewMusicBox (newmusicbox.org) and Counterstream Radio (counterstreamradio.org).
