Grant Details

For general operating support of advocacy, public information, and educational activities to, and on behalf of, New Jersey's non-profit community.

Organization Background

The Center for Non-Profits is New Jersey's state association of non-profits. Our mission is to build the power of New Jersey's non-profit community to improve the quality of life for the people of our state.

Since its founding nearly 35 years ago, the Center remains New Jersey's only umbrella organization for all charities in the state. Through public policy, capacity building, education, and training programs the Center gives non-profits the information and tools they need to pursue their missions more effectively, strengthening non-profits as individual organizations and as a community.

The Center occupies a unique role as the only statewide organization advocating for the non-profit community as a whole, and has a strong track record in improving understanding of the non-profit community and in fostering sound public policies to enable non-profits to conduct their work in furtherance of the public good.

The Center is led and staffed by experienced professionals with decades of experience in the non-profit arena. Our CEO, Linda Czipo, is a 29-year employee of the organization (16 in her current position) and established non-profit sector advocate with statewide and national recognition in the field. The Center's membership director, Deborah Duncan, has over 20 years of education and management experience in the field, and is bilingual in English and Spanish. Our communications specialist, Susan Merrill O'Connor, has over 20 years of experience working with non-profits in both employee and consultant capacities to enhance their marketing, media relations, visibility, and fundraising efforts. Program Coordinator Caitlin Giles McCormick has 10 years of non-profit experience, including working with the disabilities community, youth philanthropy and statewide non-profit associations.

Our activities are overseen by a dedicated board of trustees comprised of respected leaders from non-profits, corporate philanthropy, and professional consulting.
