For general operating support for the Morris Museum.
Founded in 1913, the Morris Museum's mission is to excite the mind and enhance the quality of life by advancing understanding and enjoyment of the arts, sciences, and humanities in a welcoming environment that responsibly uses all museum resources. From the start, education has been at the heart of the Museum's mission and is evident in the comprehensive arts education programs offered onsite and through outreach to schools, libraries and community venues.
The only museum with a professional theatre, the Morris Museum is a unique, truly inter-disciplinary arts organization. Through artistic excellence and innovation, we strive to create more interactive and relevant art experiences that inspire cultural engagement, lifelong learning and artistic expression. We are committed to serving as a vibrant cultural center, connecting people to art, to each other and to new ideas.
As one of New Jersey's most impactful cultural institutions, the Morris Museum serves approximately 400,000 people annually, of which 200,000 are children. The Morris Museum engages a diverse community through thought provoking exhibitions, stimulating arts education programs, exciting family events, and exhilarating performances. Audiences are drawn from sixteen counties throughout the State and reflect the socio-economic and ethnic spectrums that comprise northern and central New Jersey. Through enhanced visitor amenities and expanded community partnerships we are committed to making our resources accessible to people of all ages, interests, and abilities.
The Morris Museum has been recognized as a Major Arts Institution by the New Jersey State Council of the Arts (NJSCA)/Department of State for seven years in a row and for six years has been awarded NJSCA's prestigious Citation of Excellence.
