To support Roxey Ballet performances, education initiatives and community outreach.
For 22 years, as the only professional dance company in northwestern New Jersey, Roxey Ballet is dedicated and continues to provide the region with high quality dance performances and education initiatives that positively affect the lives of those who experience them. These statewide programs encompass abundant depth, impact youth, and reflect the diversity of its artist roster and region.
The organization's board of trustees is entirely committed to its mission: "to build meaningful bridges through dance within our community, across cultures and populations. The company will deliver artistic and cultural excellence. It will be an all-inclusive organization, fostering a creative environment of growth for artists of all levels. With unique and diverse works, taking traditions to the next level, Roxey Ballet strives to inspire audiences and artists alike and seeks to preserve and advance the fine art of dance for generations to come".
Roxey Ballet fulfills that mission in three fundamental ways: creating, producing and performing dances including new choreography and re-imagined classics; formally teaching dance through its affiliated school, and providing highly-acclaimed arts education in schools and social service settings, including nationally-recognized programs addressing the needs of persons with disabilities and special challenges and youth at risk.
Under the umbrella of "Total Dance Access" Roxey Ballet weaves its distinctive educational programs deeply into the communities with in-school programming, residencies, and specialized programs for those with physical, mental and emotional disabilities. Roxey Ballet proactively reaches out to serve those who might not otherwise enjoy high level arts programming.
Roxey Ballet is experiencing phenomenal regional success. From the recently sold out "Frankenstein" and the Trenton Psychiatric Hospital performance in October, to the season's anticipated closing of "The Healing Arts Project: The C Word, Stories of Breast Cancer Survivors" in collaboration with the songwriting team from ProMusica, featuring 22 breast cancer survivors and their stories. Roxey Ballet's present season is truly spectacular including community favorites "Carmina Burana" with Princeton Pro Musica and the full length classical ballet version of Cinderella.
Mark Roxey is committed to building a strong artistic presence, growing the collective footprint, increasing the quality of the artistic experience for his artists, and collaborating with engaging choreographers, composers, and artists who share the organizational mission, goals and objectives.
