To expand production and distribution of video content about New Jersey's creative culture.
Stockton University is pleased to continue co-production of State of the Arts with the New Jersey State Council on the Arts. The project adds to our mission of strengthening cultural ties within our university, regional and statewide communities.
PCK Media's mission is to create socially responsible video content about the arts, culture, history and the environment. State of the Arts is a key production of PCK Media.
State of the Arts is a series of short documentaries that feature New Jersey's most creative people and places, strengthening the media presence of the arts in our state in many ways. It is broadcast on NJTV and WHYY as a magazine program, and streams online through public media websites nationwide and on the State of the Arts NJ YouTube channel. As we write, we are midway through the 35th season of State of the Arts on public television and our fourth full season on the State of the Arts NJ YouTube channel.
Stories feature stars such as (on this season alone) actor Robert De Niro, author Jhumpa Lahiri, and sculptor Ursula von Rydingsvard, as well as rising young Cuban-American playwrights at Two River Theater, community artists at Trenton's Art All Day, and the local gallery/music scene in Asbury Park. Our mission is to give equal time to the emerging as well as the well known.
State of the Arts is present as documentarian, witness, town-crier, co-creator, critic, and cheering section. It is an integral, always evolving part of the arts in New Jersey.
