Camilo Mendez

As Chief Financial Officer, Camilo Mendez (he/him/his) oversees finance and operations for the Dodge Foundation. He also works closely with the board and president & CEO to align the Dodge Foundation’s investments with its mission and values, and leads Dodge’s Programmatic Investments pilot program. This program, created in 2021, makes investments to enhance the lives of insufficiently resourced communities in New Jersey and similar communities outside of the state, while seeking to demonstrate that these investments can earn a positive financial return. 

Camilo has more than 20 years’ experience in finance and impact investing in the public, private and social sectors. Prior to the Dodge Foundation, he was Chief Financial Officer at Pro Mujer, an international women’s organization committed to positively impacting the lives of its clients and their families across several countries in Latin America. Camilo has also worked for microfinance and impact investing fund managers including BlueOrchard Finance, as their director of Latin America, and Oikocredit, as an equity investment officer.

Camilo holds a Master’s in International Relations from Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies and a Bachelor’s in Latin American Studies and History from Oberlin College. He currently serves on the board of Pro Mujer.

Camilo was born in Argentina but grew up in the United States after his family was exiled by Argentina’s military dictatorship when he was a child. He lived abroad for 10 years in Switzerland and Peru before returning to New Jersey in 2015. He is a husband and father of two children that inspire and exasperate him daily. He enjoys nature, travel and music and is a very amateur soccer player.
