Today, the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation launches the Jersey Give-Back Guide, an easy-to-use website that features a selection of New Jersey’s most effective and inspiring nonprofits and encourages the public to make year-end donations. It is sponsored by NJ.com which will promote it with a marketing campaign on their website.
The Guide uses a handy and fun device called the “Generosity Generator” to help take the guesswork out of giving. Using the Generator, individuals can choose from the categories (Community, Arts, Environment) to learn about this year’s recommended nonprofits, find one or more that match their interests, and follow an easy step-by-step process to make one or multiple donations via Paypal.
Why are we doing this and how did we choose the featured nonprofits? Good questions.
We strive to support our grantees and the nonprofit sector in multiple ways beyond a grant check. This is our attempt to help raise awareness about the good work happening all across the state, and to promote the idea of giving locally this holiday season.
It was hard – very hard – to whittle down the list to just fifteen of all the amazing nonprofits out there, but we needed to start somewhere. We chose organizations that excel in collaboration, innovation, and community engagement. The organizations have to be financially healthy and have an excellent reputation for their work. We also chose a diversity of organizations both programmatically and geographically.

Please help us generate some generosity for New Jersey this holiday season.
The Guide will be online from now until mid-January, then re-launched next holiday season, featuring a new group of nonprofits.
