What they do:

The East Coast Greenway Alliance is the non-profit organization leading the development of the East Coast Greenway, a 2,900-mile trail route from Calais, Maine, to Key West, Florida.

In New Jersey, the East Coast Greenway Alliance builds on strong relationships with NJDOT, NJDEP, NJ Bike & Walk Coalition, and other allies to develop the active transportation and sustainability movementfor East Coast Greenway communities throughout New Jersey.

Their work is to develop a safe, accessible active transportation, recreation, and tourism route for trail users of all ages and abilities and thereby increase community health, economic development, and quality of life for New Jersey residents.

D&RCommunities served:

In New Jersey, the East Coast Greenway spans 98 miles and 6 counties, between the Delaware and Hudson Rivers. It connects the urban areas of Trenton, New Brunswick, Newark, and Jersey City, as well as quiet suburban settings and more rural landscapes. The route includes one of the ECG’s longest completed trail segments – the D&R Canal Towpath, which is 35.7 miles long.

What makes them great:

As the most densely-populated state – with millions of potential trail users, environmentalists, and nature lovers – developing the East Coast Greenway in New Jersey has been a priority from the start. Our many New Jersey volunteers are active and committed, having developed a lovely route through the state.

How your donation will help make an impact:

Your donation to the ECGA will help us:

  • Host interactive events that engage communities and New Jersey community and state partners along the East Coast Greenway route.
  • Increase staff capacity and focus in New Jersey with the hire of a full-time Tri-State Trail Coordinator.
  • Improve our downloadable East Coast Greenway App for easier and more complete route navigation.
