Newark’s Green Future

October 10, 2008

In partnership with the Apollo Alliance, the City of Newark recently held a two-day “Newark’s Green Future” Summit which was the first time a predominantly African American city decided to comprehensively pursue a new development strategy based on clean energy and creating green-collar jobs. The summit, which was open to the public, signaled Newark’s intention to become a national model for environmental and economic policies that will lead to sustainable development of Newark – development, according to the Apollo Alliance, that “creates ‘green jobs’ for residents, positively impacts community health, enhances public infrastructure, and increases opportunities for future generations.” Dodge is pleased to have been a part of this forward-thinking event.

Brandy Agerbeck of Loose Tooth, graphically facilitated the summit. For closer inspection of her work as well as her own explanation of the process and more detailed maps of the summit’s conversations (like the one below), please click here.
