Janna Oberdorf leads strategic communications at the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation, shaping how the Foundation engages with partners, amplifies grantee voices, and contributes insights to the broader philanthropic and nonprofit field.
With more than 20 years of experience in communications, marketing, and fundraising, Janna has spent her career advancing racial and gender equity. Prior to the Dodge Foundation, she served as Vice President of External Affairs at Echoing Green, an organization that invests in early-stage social entrepreneurs at the intersection of social innovation and social justice. At Echoing Green, Janna led and mobilized a $75M campaign, the Racial Equity Philanthropic Fund, with the goal of expanding investment to leaders of color across the country and around the world. She previously directed communications and advocacy at Women Deliver, a global nonprofit championing gender equality and the health and rights of girls and women.
Janna began her career in journalism and has written and edited for newspapers and magazines. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Journalism & Mass Communications and Politics from New York University and has served on nonprofit boards, including the New York Abortion Access Fund. She is a Women inPower Fellow, a Lead New Jersey Fellow, and a Change Leaders in Philanthropy Fellow (through Grantmakers for Effective Organizations).
