On Saturday, June 11 the American Littoral Society, Dodge Foundation and Union City Music Project collaborated to bring music and young musicians to the coast.

The UCMP brought music to the Littoral Society’s annual Members Day celebration. The Society helped the musicians and their family members get knee deep in the unique flora and fauna of Sandy Hook, part of Gateway National Recreation Area. For some of the children, it was their first visit to a beach.

Why?

How did this connection happen?

Children are future environmental stewards. Connecting the children to the species living right below the surface of the water

Melina –

  1. Union City little open space not much trees. Not much nature. Amazing and relaxing. Fun, kids could let loose. Easy to have fun. Run, sit down in the grass
    1. Wanted to members to learn about us and see what we’re doing. Big separation between South and North Jersey. Expectations don’t match the relay. Children to learn about the beach, preservation and conversation effort. Exposing the kids. Don’t get the experience in school. Seeing the people who make these efforts happen. Hoping the kids would have fun outdoors. Accomplish to learn about nature, not throwing out plastic. Board members.

PIm and ALS –

  1. The small grant. ALs met their mission by bringing people to the coast To give is better than to receive. Got great satisfaction from the experience. happy environment. hopefully will walk away saying I want to come back.
