Jersey Give Back Guide: Celebrating City Green

December 3, 2013

City Green.

Throughout December, we are highlighting each of the organizations featured in our Jersey Give-Back Guide, which is a website designed to help you learn about some of New Jersey’s most effective nonprofits  as you are thinking about making your year-end donations. On Day 2 of the “15 Days of Generating Generosity” we feature Paterson-based City Green.

City Green

City Green’s model is effectively simple: find a local partner (a school), some space (a vacant lot), and engage kids and the community in gardening and food production.  Working in Paterson and Jersey City, City Green is delivering much needed work and leadership opportunities for people in neglected neighborhoods, connecting kids with nature, and transforming blighted lots into beautiful community spaces. They also manage two urban farms and six farmers markets, giving people access to fresh local food. AND, they do it all on a shoestring budget. We are crazy about City Green, and you will be too. Please show your support for this plucky organization.
