The New Jersey Highlands Coalition and Byram Township Environmental Commission are screening two award-winning New Jersey Network (NJN) public television films, “The Race for Open Space” and “The Highlands Rediscovered” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2 at the Dodge Foundation offices (3rd floor).

Come see a free movie screening of Vanishing of the Bees (narrated by Ellen Page) with Grow It Green Morristown on Thursday, February 3rd at 6:30 pm at the Dodge Foundation offices (3rd floor).
Across the world, honeybees have been disappearing – literally vanishing – from their hives. Yet commercial honeybee operations pollinate crops that make up one out of every three bites of food on our tables. This important film explores the phenomenon known as Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD). Come learn more about CCD and the ramifications it can have for humanity – and what you can do about it!

Grow It Green Morristown is hosting an Introduction to Natural Bee Keeping on Thursday, February 10th at 6:30 pm at the Dodge Foundation offices (3rd floor).
If you’re feeling inspired from watching the Vanishing of the Bees or have you always been curious about how to start your own beehive, join beekeeper Tammy Toad Ryan for this introductory beekeeping class. The class will cover the basics of equipment, including both langstroth and top bar hives, where to get bees and equipment, and the most ideal location to house them. It will also touch on what organic/ biodynamic beekeeping means. Educational resources will be shared.

NJN’s Michael Aron is the event’s moderator, and Chris Daggett, President and CEO of the Dodge Foundation, is the keynote speaker .
Carin Franzini, CEO of the New Jersey Economic Development Authority, is the luncheon keynote speaker.
