We get a lot of invitations, postcards and emails about great events going on around the state of New Jersey. Below are just a few upcoming events we wanted to share. Fortunately, being on Twitter lets us announce more of them than we’ve ever been able to in the past – yet another reason you should sign up for Twitter if you’re not already there.

“Who Does She Think She Is?” documentary film featuring five women artists and the choices they are constantly faced with. At the College of St. Elizabeth, Morristown (6:15 – 8:15 pm, screening followed by panel discussion). For more information: 973.290.4413.

Our Dad is in Atlantis by Javier Malpica, translation by Jorge Ignacio Cortiñias, at the Playwrights Theatre. Directed by David Winitsky. Two young Mexican boys set off to find their father, who is working in the US, after both their mother and grandmother die and life has become too difficult to stay with distant relatives.
Also through October 18, the Monmouth Museum presents Sangita Phadke – Pastel Paintings as a part of its New Jersey Emerging Artists Series. Sangita Phadke is a resident of Colts Neck, NJ who creates beautiful larger than life portraits of fruits and vegetables in the photo realistic style.

The Discovery Orchestra, in their 23rd season, invites you to Discover Amadeus at the Victoria Theatre, NJPAC (3:00 pm). (And Discover Beethoven’s 5th in April, 2010!) You’ve never seen a Discovery concert? They are great fun!
October 15 – December 19
City Without Walls‘ exhibit “Ready to Unveil” re-imagines Newark as an art gallery, with the work of 15 artists. Free and open to the public Thursdays – Saturdays 12-6:00 pm through December 19, 2009.
October 17
Our Children/Our Schools is hosting an education forum “Are We There Yet? Moving All Children Forward in Public Education” with a panel discussion, including former Dodge Educator Program Director Ross Danis, Dr, Larry Leverett of the Panasonic Foundation and Rosie Grant of the Paterson Education Fund. At the Trenton Board of Education Offices (9 – noon).

Network with environmental leaders from around the state at the 36th Annual Environmental Congress: The Economics of Green, which brings together a statewide coalition of environmental commissions, local officials, agencies, citizen groups and environmental organizations.
