How to Connect With Others in 3 Easy Steps

March 28, 2012

One of the most prominent features of the new Dodge website is our “Connect With Others” map. This interactive map of New Jersey invites nonprofits (whether you are a Dodge grantee or not) to:

  • Put your organization on the map
  • Share your stories of collaboration
  • See the work of other organizations throughout the state
  • Get personalized recommendations for organizations you might be interested in
  • Save your “favorite” organizations
  • Ask questions, start a conversation or join the discussion

Our hope is that the map will spark ideas about connecting and collaborating and will encourage discussion and learning from one another.

So how do you put your organization on the map? You can do it in 3 easy steps:

Step 1.

If you are not already registered with our website, sign up. Look for the “Join Us” link in the upper right hand corner of the page and fill out the short form. If you are already registered, use the “Login” link to log into the website.

Step 2.

After you are logged in, go to the Connect With Others page (under the APPLY menu) and look for “Are You on the Map / Add Your Org” which is below the map, on the right of the page.

Click on the “Add Your Org” and short form will pop up.

The form looks like this:

Step 3.

Fill out the form, click the button to submit it, and you’re done!

Dodge staff will review the forms before adding them to the map (you will not see your organization automatically appear on the map). Also, in order to appear on the map, you must include a story of collaboration.

Once you have registered your organization, you can update your information at any time, including updating your stories of collaboration, by clicking on the “Edit Your Profile” link and then clicking on the “Your Organizations” link in the menu.

When your organization is on the map, it looks like this:

And when you click on the “Learn More” link (in this case, about Peters Valley), you will see their connections:

And be able to learn more about both Peters Valley and their connections:

Additional Features

Other features of the Connect With Others Map include personalized recommendations (you must be logged into the website to receive these):

If you click on the star, it will save the organization in your favorites list.

And at the bottom of the page, there’s a Facebook feature where you can start a discussion with your colleagues, ask a question about the map or one of the organizations on it, or simply add a comment:

Put Yourself on the Map!

We look forward to hearing your stories of collaboration and hope that the map sparks new ideas and partnerships for your organization.
